The Turtle That Stopped the Yuba Mundo

A turtle and the Yuba Mundo

Andrew was riding the Yuba Mundo to work the other morning, and as he rode by North pond in Lincoln Park,  his route was blocked by this turtle trying to get across the path to the pond.  As soon as that turtle saw the big orange bike  he quickly withdrew into his shell.   Andrew was going to pick him up and help him along his way, but thought better of it – probably best just to leave the little guy alone.

A minute or so later, this woman and her dog came upon our turtle friend, but besides a few sniffs, the  dog left the turtle alone so that once all the gawkers moved on, he could make his way to the pond.   No wonder  Andrew loves his bike rides to work in the morning!

    What a beautiful creature.

Turtles, got to love them. They seem like such unlikely, improbable creatures. I want to live in a world that still has plentiful turtles that you bump into sometimes on bicycle rides.

From the headline I thought perhaps you guys ran into the turtle!

Ha! I did have a few different headline options in my head. Andrew
sent me the pictures in an email with the subject line “road block” so
that sorta set the tone. ;-)
