Chicago’s Millennium Park Bike Station

If you commute downtown via bike on a regular basis you might be familar with the McDonald’s Cycle Center in Millennium Park – an amazing facility that opened up a couple of years ago for bike commuters. It has free indoor and outdoor parking as well as day passes, monthly memberships and yearly memberships that give you access to the locker rooms, and a 24-hour access parking area among other things. To see a few more pictures of the bike station itself check out the post I wrote about the station this past summer.

The folks behind this great bike commuter facility have kept themselves very busy doing more than just running Chicago’s bike station. They’ve been working  on opening similar stations in other cities around the country.  In fact, they interviewed a bunch of Chicago bike commuters this summer to ask us what we liked about the bike station and what tips we could give to people who want to start riding their bikes to work. They’ve just debuted their new website called “Bike and Park”  that supports not only the Chicago bike station, but the soon-to-be-opened station in Santa Monica, as well one that will open next year in Cincinnati! And those videos I mentioned? Well, they’ve posted them on their site and there’s even one that includes me talking about biking in Chicago, as well as this blog. (Thanks guys!)  Take a look!

Be sure to check out their new website and talk to them if you’d like to see a great commuter bike station in your town!
