Some Days You Have to Leave the Omafiets at Home

They were forecasting rain, thunderstorms, wind and hail today as the nasty storms that have been blowing across the plains states roll into the Chicago area. This is the radar image that greeted me this am:

Along with this forecast for the day:

The National Weather Service this morning issued a hazardous weather outlook, forecasting possibly severe thunderstorms accompanied by damaging winds and hail for the Chicago area…..The strongest thunderstorms may produce nickel-size hail, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, wind gusts of more than 60 mph and perhaps an isolated tornado, the weather service said. A first wave of thunderstorms will move north across the area this morning with a second wave redeveloping this afternoon and continue through tonight southwest to northeast across the warning area, mainly south of the Wisconsin state line.

The flowers may like the rain, but I’m not fond of riding in hail, lightning, and brutal winds blowing off the lakefront.  Looks like a CTA day for me.
