It’s Chicago’s Bike to Work Week 2013

Chicago’s own Bike to Work Week is well underway!  It kicked off over the weekend with the 30th Ward’s Bike the Ward ride,  Schuba’s Bike Bash, and tons of other events. It continues all week long with the Bike Commuter Challenge and  so damn many pit stops during the morning and evening rush hours all over Chicago and the suburbs that I’m not going to list them – just check out the full list of pit stop and events here.  Along with the pit stops the other events going on include:

  • Morning spin classes in Millennium Park at 6:30 and 7:30am
  • Free outdoor yoga class in Daley Plaza (6/10)
  • Bikes & Barbecue Happy Hour @ Heritage Bikes (6/10)
  • Bikes & A Movie in Millennium Park -Triplets of Bellville (6/11)
  • Near North Bike Tour led by Lee Diamond (6/12)
  • Ride to work with the DuPage County Chairman along the Illinois Prairie Path 6/13)
  • Bike to Work Day Rally (6/14)
  • Bartlett 25-mile Bicycle Tour (6/15)

All these activities are great ways to get you motivated to trade-in your regular commute for a bike commute for at least a day or two a week. Personally, it’s commute-as-usual for me, since I ride year-round, but I love the chance to show everyone else how great bike commuting can be. Tomorrow morning I’ll be stopping by the pit stop at Comrade Cycles (1908 W. Chicago Ave) and on Thursday you should be able to find me at the pit stop at the Millennium Park Bike Station.  And of course on Friday, I’ll be at the rally. Come find me and I’ll buy ya a cup of coffee!
