If you’re a Chicago cyclist you probably check the Chainlink site at least once a week – perhaps even more often than that. You’ll note that I always link to their events calendar over on my own abbreviated version of bike events in Chicago since the Chainlink calendar is the place to check to find out what’s going on in the Chicago cycling community.
The Chainlink was launched in 2008 to provide Chicago’s diverse bicycle scene with a cohesive online meeting space. In just four years we’ve grown to more than 8,000 members and tens of thousands of unique monthly visitors. Today The Chainlink serves as the region’s premier cycling platform: a forum to organize, learn, and share ideas and experiences.
This Friday they’re hosting a fabulous fundraising party, which is also a 2nd attempt to hold one of the best Halloween parties in the city. The fundraising is to support an overhaul of the website. A VIP ticket to the party gets you free craft beers and a $50 donation to the Chainlink cause. If you can’t make the party you can still check out their fundraising page where you’ve got lots of other donation options that include some nifty perks like Chainlink t-shirts, stickers, Po Campo bags, cycling hats and more. If you want to learn more about why the Chainlink is so important to Chicago cycling, check out this video – note the cameo by yours truly too.
