Do You Ever Sing When You Ride?

After the rain ended Tuesday night, and I rode home from the Guerrilla Truck Show in Fulton Market, I felt like I had the city to myself.  The city streets always seem especially deserted after a good rain and Hubbard Street isn’t that busy after rush hour.    It’s a great feeling,  sorta magical.

Guerilla Truck Show Folk Singer

Anyway, while I was perusing the trucks full of art in Fulton Market,  I noticed one of the trucks was decked out in carnival garb with a popcorn machine,  a barker will a megaphone hawking raffle tickets, and even a strolling musician. As I walked by he started singing “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” – sort appropriate I guess, being so close to all those train lines.  Well, wouldn’t you know it, that song got lodged in my head. When I got back on my bike to head home,  I started humming to myself.  Soon I was singing the chorus full voice all the way down Hubbard Street – have to say I had a good time belting out  “Someone’s in the kitchen with Dinah, someone’s in the kitchen I know oh oh oh.. “    I guess our young rider isn’t the only one in the family who likes to sing and ride.
