Bring on the Snowmelt, It’s Getting Ugly Out Here

It’s been warming up a lot since the frigid temperatures that followed the blizzard, and right now we’re faced with piles of melted, black, dirty snow.  It’s the one thing I hate about the city – the way the snow quickly turns ugly. We’re supposed to have even warmer weather in the next few days that should melt off the last of it and leave us with giant muddy puddles instead.   I’m tired of looking at it, and riding through it, and can’t believe that it was less than a week ago that the snow still looked so lovely.  To cheer me up as much as anything,  I’m sharing some photos I took after a light snow we had post-blizzard last Sunday morning.  Mr Ding and I  strolled through the Humboldt Park neighborhood and parts of neighboring Ukrainian Village in search of wintry air and breakfast.

This place wasn’t open when we first went by or we probably would have stopped for the Chilaquiles.  Instead we went to Nellie’s for a good ole Puerto Rican breakfast – their coconut oatmeal is frankly awesome.

These next two buildings were constructed by the same developer who I’ve been told named them for his daughters.  They sit across the street from one another.
