Adaptive Bikes for Kids – Recent Great Stories

  • The Pittsburgh  branch of Variety Children’s Charity launched a “My Bike” Program in November to get adaptive bikes to special needs kids. They’re looking for more kids who will be as ecstatic as this 13-year old with Spina Bifida was, to have a bike they can ride on their more.
  •  An organization called Preston’s March is “continuing its journey of helping children with special needs enjoy one of life’s sweetest pleasures – the feel of the wind on their face as they ride a bike”.  The non-profit group based in Delware, recently awarded its 24th bike to a special needs kid.   • These two Bay City Michigan kids received bikes as part of a civic good citizens award ceremony. They expected to receive bikes they could not ride, but instead were awarded adaptive bikes!  A new bike is a cool thing for a kid.  For these kids “on a bike, they don’t look handicapped. They are just on a bike like every other kid. They can forget that they need special things.”
