A Sunday Bike Ride, Raffle Prizes, and Gelato

It was a glorious day in Chicago on Sunday, breezy, sunny, high of about 80. Given the 85-95 degree weather with equally high humidity that we’ve had for the last couple of weeks,  it felt like a miracle day. The flowers in our backyard were showing off in the beautiful weather almost as much as my beat-up old mountain bike was – the old trek wanted to get out and ride.

So get out we did! Mr. Ding and I were kid-free on Sunday, so the two of us took off on our bikes and headed north through the city. We headed for the Kirkwood Bar up in the Lakeview neighborhood. The Chicagoans for Nebraska club was hosting a football season kick-off party out on the back patio, and we were going to meet a friend and have a beer or two. Turned out to be a banner day for Mr. Ding and I!  They were having a raffle and the first prize was two tickets to the Nebraska season home-opener! And guess who won those tickets? You got it – Mr. Ding and I!!

Turned out to be a beautiful AND lucky day! On our way home, we stopped by a delicious new gelato shop – Black Dog Gelato and picked up some amazing gelato- salted peanut and some spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate.  I strongly suggest you pay them a visit.

I’ll have to try Black Dog Gelato. I’m loyal to Scooter’s Frozen Custard, but I do love gelato!
