A Cargo Bike-Riding We Go!

As you may know, I am on a quest for a new bike – a new dutch bike to be exact.  I started doing my research this spring, and then started test-riding bikes. I’m fairly convinced I want a Oma-style step-through bike, and since I’m a fan of steel bikes and hub dynamo lights, my options narrow fairly quickly. Unfortunately there appears that there are a lot of tall people in Chicago who have been buying dutch bikes because the frame-size bikes that I want are all sold out at the various stores I’ve been visiting.  I’ve been test riding either the exact bike I want in a smaller size, or a slightly different configuration in the size I want. Both Copenhagen Cyclery and The Dutch Bike Co. told me that they were surprised as how quickly they sold out the taller bikes. Obviously they didn’t check their demographic – lots of tall folks in Chicago.

I headed out again this weekend to do some test riding at The Dutch Bike Co. and to add my entry in Part 2 of the Let’s Go Ride A Bike Summer Games! I rode a 61 cm WorkCycles Secret Service bike. Vince suggested I take one of the Bakfiets Cargo bikes out for a little test ride too – so off I went! It was a bit dicey for a few seconds until I got myself pedaling and then off I went.
